Concept:

In case of a hydrodynamic bearing, let

D = journal or shaft diameter; D1 = Diameter of bearing; h0 = minimum oil film thickness; e = eccentricity

Diametral clearance C = D1 - D

Radial clearance C1 =  = R1 - R

R1 = R + e + h0

e = R1 - R - h0

e = C - h0

Attitude of Journal bearing also known as Eccentricity ratio

E =  =  = 1 -

So attitude of journal bearing is ratio of eccentricity to the radial clearance.
