Tropical moist deciduous forests are distributed in states of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Odisha and on the eastern slopes of Western Ghats.
Characteristics of tropical deciduous forests;
- They are also called Monsoon Forests.
- Rainfall is in the range of 100-200 cms.
- The trees shed their leaves during the spring season.
- Teak is the most dominant species of this forest while Bamboos, Sal, Shisham, sandalwood, Kusum, Arjun, Mahua, and mulberry are other commercially important species.
