The average of 15 men decreased by 2

A 70 kg is replaced by a new man

Formula used

Average = Sum of all values/No. of values

Solution

Let the average of 15 men be x,

and the weight of new man be a.

⇒ 15x - 70 + a = 15(x - 2)

⇒ 15x - 70 + a = 15x - 30

⇒ a = 70 - 30 = 40 kg
