At the COP26, India pledged to achieve 500 GW of installed non-fossil energy capacity by 2030.

Key Points

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lay the foundation stone for the project in December 2020 which is estimated to generate 30 gigawatts (GW) of power or 30,000 megawatts (MW).
It will be the world's largest hybrid renewable energy park.
The Gujarat government provided 1,00,000 hectares of wasteland in Kutch for an energy park.
The park will generate 30 gigawatts of electricity from solar panels and wind turbines.
In April 2020, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) approved the usage of 72,600 hectares of the designated area for the park.

Therefore, India is in the process of setting up the largest integrated solar-wind energy park with a 30 GW capacity.

As of 30 November 2021, India installed Renewable Energy capacity was 150.54 GW.
