The Rio+20 Conference:
- The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) took place in Rio de Janeiro between 20-22 June 2012, commonly known as the Rio+20 Conference.
- It presented an opportunity to redirect and re-energise political commitment to the three dimensions of sustainable development: economic growth, social improvement and environmental protection.
- The two main highlights of Rio+20 are - an agreement to develop a set of global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to establish a high-level political forum to ensure tangible action towards sustainable development.
