Let the speed of the boat in still water be x km/hr

Speed downstream = (x + 5) km/hr

Speed upstream = (x − 5) km/hr

Distance of downstream = Distance of Upstream

∴ (x + 5) × 0.8 = (x − 5) × 1.6

⇒ 0.8x + 4 = 1.6x – 8

⇒ 0.8x = 12 km/hr

⇒ x = 15 km/hr
