CONCEPT

The universal law of gravitation was proposed by Sir Isaac Newton In the year 1686.
Newton’s law of gravitation: Every particle in the universe attracts every other particle with a force, which is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.

If two bodies with mass m1 & m2, where r be the distance between two masses, then gravitational force,

\(F_1 = F_2 =F \propto \frac{{{m_1}{m_2}}}{{{r^2}}}\)

Where, F = force of attraction, G = 6.67 × 10-11 N-m2/kg2 (gravitational constant), m1 & m2 = mass of bodies, r = distance between them.
