\(\frac{E_1}{E_2}=\frac{l_1}{l_2}\)

Application:

We have,

E1 = 3 V (Supply voltage or cell terminal voltage)

E2 = 1.08 V (voltage drop across the wire for balancing)

l2 = 216 cm (length of wire were at which voltage drop occurs)

l1 = total length of wire

From the above formula,

l1 = \(l_2\times \frac{E_1}{E_2}=216\times \frac{3}{1.08}=600\ cm\)
