Let the length of the rectangular working place = x
The breadth of the rectangular working place = y
Area of the Rectangular working place = x × y = xy
According to question
Reduced length = x - 6x/100
= (100x - 6x)/100
= 94x/100
= 0.94x
Reduced breadth = y - 6y/100
= (100y - 6y)/100
= 94y/100
= 0.94y
New area = 0.94x × 0.94y

Percentage of decrease in area = (xy - 0.8836xy) /xy × 100
