Question
Download Solution PDFA person can complete a journey in 14 hours. He covers the first one-third of the distance at the rate of 40 km/h and the remaining distance at the rate of 60 km/h. What is the total distance of his journey?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Time for Complete journey = 14 hours
\(1\over3\)th of the distance travelled with speed = 40km/h
Remaining Distance(\(2\over3\)th)travelled with speed = 60km/h
Formula:
Time = Distance /Speed
Calculation:
Let the total distance be x km.
⇒ \(x\over3\)/40 + \(2x\over 3\)/ 60 = 14
⇒ \(x\over 120\) + \(2x\over 180\) = 14
⇒ \(3x+4x\over360\)= 14
⇒ \(7x\over360\) = 14
⇒ x = 720
The Total Distance of his journey is '720 km'.
