Given:

The first discount given is 10%.

Marked price of the watch = Rs. 2750

Concept used:

Selling price = Marked price × (100 - Discount)%

Calculation:

After 1st discount amount = 2750 × 90%

⇒ 2475

Let the second discount be a%

According to the question,

2475 × (100 - a)% = 2103.75

⇒ (100 - a)/100 = 2103.75/2475

⇒ (100 - a)/100 = 210375/247500

⇒ (100 - a) = 210375/2475

⇒ (100 - a) = 187/2.2

⇒ 220 - 2.2a = 187

⇒ 220 - 187 = 2.2a

⇒ 33 = 2.2a

⇒ 15 = a

So, the second discount is 15%

∴ The second discount is 15%.

Shortcut Trick

We know, 10% = 1/10

In the 1st discount MP = 10 and SP = 9

Let's assume in the 2nd discount MP = x SP = y

  MP SP
1st discount 10 9
2nd discount x y
Final 2750 2103.75

So, x : y = (9 × 2750) : (10 × 2103.75) = 20 : 17

So, the 2nd discount be 3/20 × 100 = 15%
