Question
Download Solution PDFWhat is the time taken by a train of length 200 m travelling at a speed of 60 m / s to cross a person travelling at a speed of 36 kmph in the same direction?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Length of the train = 200m
Speed of train = 60 m/s
Speed of person = 36 km/h
Formula Used:
Speed = Distance ÷ Time
If two object travelling in same direction with speed S1 and speed S2, then Relative speed = S1 - S2
Calculation:
1 km/hr = 5/18 m/s
So, the speed of the person in m/s = 36 × 5/18 m/s = 10m/s
Relative speed = 60m/s - 10m/s = 50m/s
\(t = \frac{200 \mathrm{m}} { 50 \mathrm{m/s}} = 4\) secs
Therefore, the time taken by the train to cross a person is 4 seconds.
