Given:

Length (L) = 20 cm

Breadth (B) = 12 cm

Height (H) = 10 cm

The cuboid is cut into 8 identical pieces.

Formula used:

Surface Area of cuboid = 2(L × B + L × H + B × H)

Surface Area of each piece = 2(L/2 × B/2 + L/2 × H/2 + B/2 × H/2)

Calculation:

Surface Area of cuboid = 2(20 × 12 + 20 × 10 + 12 × 10)

⇒ 2(240 + 200 + 120)

⇒ 2 × 560 = 1120 cm2 (Surface area of the original cuboid)

Surface Area of one smaller piece = 2(10 × 6 + 10 × 5 + 6 × 5)

⇒ 2(60 + 50 + 30)

⇒ 2 × 140 = 280 cm2 (Surface area of one small cuboid)

Total Surface Area of 8 pieces = 8 × 280

⇒ Total Surface Area = 2240 cm2

∴ The correct answer is option (2).
