Given:

The numbers arranged in ascending order = 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13 and N

Formula used:

Mean = sum of the terms/Number of the terms

When n is odd,

Median = (n + 1)/2

Calculation:

The numbers arranged in ascending order = 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13 and N

Mean = (5 + 7 + 8 + 10 + 12 + 13 + N)/7

⇒ (55 + N)/7

Now,

Total number of terms = 7, which is odd

So, Median = (n + 1)/2

⇒ (7 + 1)/2 = 4

The fourth term = 10

Now,

According to the given condition

⇒ (55 + N)/7 = 10

⇒ 55 + N = 70

⇒ N = (70 – 55)

⇒ N = 15

∴ The required value of N is 15
